Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ – A Step of Obedience and Faith

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..." – Acts 2:38 (KJV)

What is Baptism?

Baptism is more than just a religious ritual. It is a sacred act of obedience and faith—an outward declaration of an inward transformation. Through baptism, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Himself was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17), not because He had sinned, but to “fulfill all righteousness.” In doing so, He set the example for all who would follow Him.

Why in the Name of Jesus Christ?

In the Book of Acts, every recorded baptism in the early Church was done in the name of Jesus Christ:

Acts 2:38 – Peter commands the crowd to be baptized in Jesus’ name.

Acts 8:16 – Believers in Samaria were baptized in Jesus’ name.

Acts 10:48 – Peter commands Cornelius and his household to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Acts 19:5 – Paul rebaptizes disciples in the name of Jesus after they had only known John’s baptism.

The name of Jesus carries all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). Baptism in His name is not a formula—it’s a recognition of who He is: our Lord, Savior, and soon-coming King.

What Does Baptism Do?

1. Washes Away Sin – “Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16)

2. Brings Us Into Christ – “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:27)

3. Identifies Us with Jesus – “We are buried with Him by baptism into death…” (Romans 6:4)

Baptism in Jesus’ name declares:
“I believe Jesus is Lord. I surrender my life to Him. I am born again.”

Baptism is for All

Baptism is for every believer—young and old, rich and poor, from every nation and language. In Pakistan and around the world, thousands are being baptized in Jesus’ name and receiving the Holy Spirit just like in the early church.

Whether you come from a Christian background or have just recently come to faith, this step is for you.

Are You Ready?

If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, and you’re ready to turn away from sin, don’t wait. Just as Philip said to the Ethiopian man:
“If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.” (Acts 8:37)
